Position Description


Residential Education Specialist 4 (Associate Director of Student Affairs, Penn State Mont Alto)

Report directly to the Director of Student Affairs. Serve as a member of the leadership team for Student Affairs. Responsible for direct oversight of Campus Life (Residence Life and Student Activities), including supervision of professional, support and student staff. Administer, enforce, and develop policies and procedures, assess program needs, provide instruction for a 3-credit course connected with the Residence Life program, training and development for Residence Life staff and resident assistants. Manage crisis situations and serve in on-call rotation. Interpret and enforce the student code of conduct, prepare and present cases to hearings and appeal boards, assign sanctions. Serve as a primary liaison with Housing & Food Services and Police Services. Responsible for planning and implementing a wide range of programming initiatives including: new student welcome, diversity programming, and student affairs special events. Meet with and serve as a liaison to students, parents, faculty, staff, attorneys and other University offices. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. College student personnel, higher education or a related field Master's degree preferred. Successful candidate should have progressive experience beyond an entry level residence hall director position or significant diverse experience while in an entry level position. Should possess thorough understanding of the role and purpose of residence hall living as it applies to student development. Must demonstrate a commitment to the development of a community where diversity and sustainability are valued. Driver's license required; if operating a University vehicle for this position, candidate will be required to successfully complete a motor vehicle records check in addition to standard background checks. This is a 12-month live-in appointment.
