Position Description

Valencia College is now hiring a full time Security Director to join the Campus Security Services team at the East campus.

In this role, the Security Director manages a staff of security supervisors, officers, staff assistants and clerks. They are primarily responsible for ensuring overall safety of their areas of responsibility and for all security matters to include proactive patrolling, and protecting Valencia College assets against crimes, fire, man-made and natural disasters to ensure the safety of all students, faculty, staff and visitors (all defined as members). Customer service is a priority to maintain professional relationships with all members within the scope of Valencia.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution [Required]

  • Criminal justice or a related field of study or related field [Required]
  • Significant and progressively responsible command management experience in the field of corrections, military, law enforcement, or related field [Required]
  • Security or related training certificate that meets or exceeds security requirements under Florida Statute 493-5203 (Class D) [Required]
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License [Required]
  • Multi-site supervisory experience [Preferred]
  • Experience with electronic security and surveillance systems to include CCTV, proximity readers, biometrics, and industry trends [Preferred]
  • Certificates in NIMS and ICS to include: 100, 200, 300, 400 and COOP 547, 548 and HSEEP [Preferred]
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse employee and student populations AND a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
