Position Description

Position Summary:

The Student Activities Advisor works within the Office of Student Involvement (OSI) to support and advise student clubs, Student Activities Board, and ASWUV elections board to support a transformative student experience. In addition to student organization advising, the Student Activities Advisor supervises the OSI programming and marketing interns, implements large-scale campus programs, and provides individual and organizational leadership development through individual and group training. Must have experience advising, training, and mentoring student organizations, understand and apply university policies and procedures, and knowledge of group and student development. The position serves as the primary point of contact for approximately fifty (50) student clubs and their advisors and will provide oversight of student organization budgets, events, and growth to support a diverse student body.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.

Additional Requirements:

Must have three (3) years experience advising students and/or providing services to students.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Student Personnel, Counseling, or related field.

Experience interpreting and applying policies and procedures to professional duties.

One year advising student organizations (i.e. clubs, media organizations, student government, etc.) on organizational development, leadership development, budget management, risk management, etc.

Demonstrated experience creating and delivering training for student organizations and individual students.

Experience planning and implementing large-scale events/programs.
