Position Description

About Purdue University Northwest
Purdue University Northwest (PNW), in the land grant tradition of learning, discovery and engagement, provides high quality, affordable undergraduate and graduate education for approximately 9,000 students in Northwest Indiana and beyond.  Located in Northwest Indiana, PNW has two beautiful campuses.  Our Hammond, Indiana campus is set on 172 acres just miles from the Chicago border and 25 miles from the heart of downtown Chicago.  The campus includes two residence halls that are home to approximately 900 students.  The Westville campus is set on a picturesque 269 acres located 10 miles from the Indiana Dunes State Park and Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore on Lake Michigan.  It is located approximately an hour drive to both Chicago and South Bend, Indiana.

About Purdue University Northwest Students
We may be partial, but at PNW, we think we get to work with incredible students.  The average age of our degree-seeking undergraduate students is 21 and 80% are enrolled full-time.  Approximately 60% of our undergraduate students are first-generation college students, over 30% of our students are students of color, and 8% of our students are international students.  300 of our students participate in our honors college and 270 are student athletes.  Our student athletes boast an impressive average GPA of 3.23!

Student Success and Degree Works
In 2016, PNW renewed our focus on student success and retention.  Our Summer 2019 implementation of Degree Works is a significant step in the direction of increasing academic support for our students.  Through this initiative we seek to increase student success and on-time graduation by providing students with increased access to their degree requirements and personalized plans of study.  We also strive to improve our class scheduling procedures by providing department chairs information on when students will need classes, thus ensuring classes are available when students need them.  To this end, we are seeking a Student Success Administrator to ensure that we achieve the greatest student impact with the Degree Works system.  This is a perfect position for a seasoned staff member in higher education who has experience impacting student success through the use of technology.
