Position Description

Located in the beautiful seacoast area, the University of New Hampshire is a land, sea, and space grant institution. Located about 20 minutes from the ocean, an hour from the mountains, and an hour from both Boston, MA and Portland, ME, you can get your fix of both nature and big city opportunities while living in a small, traditional, college town.
 
The Residence Hall Director (RHD) is responsible for managing all aspects of a university residence hall including supervision of student staff, management of building facilities, developmental contact with residents and overseeing judicial, educational and social outreach within the hall.  Our halls range in size from 120 residents to about 600 and we have a staff of 22 RHDs. RHDs have an opportunity to participate in departmental committees as well as outreach to other campus departments.

Job Requirements

  1. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. 
  2. Knowledge of counseling practices. 
  3. Administrative ability and supervisory skills. 
  4. Ability to work with, manage and train large groups.  
  5. Ability to work with a diverse population. 
  6. Knowledge of and commitment to maintaining a student development focus in their building.
