Position Description

The Title IX Investigator and Education Specialist will provide training, education and outreach to students, faculty and staff in accordance with Title IX, Clery, VAWA Act and other federal and state requirements.  This position will also serve as an investigator for cases alleging behaviors involving faculty, staff or students specifically those of a sexual misconduct, gender-based discrimination, sexual harassment, intimate partner violence or stalking or any civil rights equity nature; coordinate interim measures and accommodations as applicable; assist in the Clery Reporting for the campus; provide support to the other two Embry-Riddle campuses as needed; and assist with other compliance efforts. 

40%        Administrative

  • Conduct investigations with any case involving possible sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, sexual violence, intimate partner violence, stalking or other necessary investigations such as Civil Rights Equity.
  • Complete reports of all investigations
  • Keep records of all investigations in compliance with federal mandates
  • Assist in the management of Maxient (electronic database)
  • Assist in policy development and compliance with Title IX and VAWA
  • Assist in compiling data for the Clery Report
  • Serve on call for emergency response to Title IX concerns as needed

30%        Training and Educational Programming

  • Assist in the development and execution of training requirements for faculty, staff and students
  • Work with other departments on campus to provide specific programming efforts for targeted audiences such as UNIV101, ROTC, Fraternity & Sorority Life and Athletics 
  • Develop educational programs that support compliance with Title IX and VAWA including the months of October and April (on and off campus programing efforts)
  • Work collaboratively with Human Resources to ensure compliance with federal mandates for employees

15%        Community Outreach & Campus Committees/Efforts

  • Serve as an ERAU representative/member on the Community Crisis Response Team (CCRT) within Yavapai County
  • Serve on the Sexual Misconduct Resource Team (SMRT)
  • Work collaboratively with other departments on campus
  • Other community & campus committees as assigned
  • Work with outside agencies to establish partnerships and working relationships

15%        Miscellaneous

  • Stay up-to-date on current trends within higher education and federal mandates as it pertains to Clery, Title IX and VAWA (must maintain Investigator's certification which the University will assist with through professional funds)
  • Participate in professional development opportunities
  • Assist the Associate Dean of Students and Title IX Coordinator with additional efforts pertaining to compliance with Title IX, VAWA and Clery
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Required skills,  knowledge, abilities:

Understanding of Title IX Compliance; possess interviewing and report writing skills; A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience is required, which should include experience in conducting investigations and in complaint and grievance resolution. Demonstrated knowledge and the ability to interpret federal, state and local equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws and regulations including Title IX, FERPA, Violence Against Women Act (bonus: the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act)and other applicable laws and regulations as required.

A successful candidate will have strong organization, planning, analytic and problem resolution abilities and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to remain neutral.  The ideal candidate will have experience as either a Title IX Investigator or Student Conductor officer. 

Evening and weekend hours may be required on occassion.
