California State University San Marcos

California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) seeks applications and nominations for the role of Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA). The VPSA will have the opportunity to make a transformative impact at CSUSM, joining a newer President with a background in student affairs and many other new members of the leadership team as they embark on the implementation of a new strategic plan, ensure the social mobility of a diverse student body, and continue on their ambitious trajectory of inclusive excellence.

Since its founding in 1989 as the California State University’s 20th campus, CSUSM has grown to serve over 16,000 students across its 43 undergraduate and 25 graduate programs. A comprehensive public university offering diverse academic programs, the campus prides itself on exemplary teaching, innovative and experiential curricula, and the application of new technologies to solve real problems. A national model for student access and success, 54 percent of CSUSM graduates are the first in their families to earn a bachelor’s degree. Designated as both a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI), the University is also home to the highest per capita number of American Indian students in the California State University system as well as the highest number per capita of military-affiliated students.

The VPSA will have the opportunity to serve as an advocate and champion for all students while building on the University’s many successes and institutional assets, including high-quality educational programs, an unwavering commitment to student success, a record of growth and innovation, incredibly talented faculty and staff, proximity to southern California’s beaches and mountains, and being recognized as one of the most diverse universities in the nation.
