Vice President for Student Services

The Vice President for Student Services provides executive-level vision and leadership and is responsible for creating an inclusive learning environment to meet the needs of a diverse student population. The Vice President reports to the President and serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet. In collaboration with the Vice President for Administrative Services and the Vice President for Instructional Services, the VPSS participates in all aspects of institution-wide planning to support the mission and goals of the college. The Vice President for Student Services has the overall responsibility for all non-instructional student personnel support services; student services related budgetary procedures, as well as implementation of all policies and programs directly related to all areas of student service. These include: the TRiO program, enrollment management (advising, career services, admissions, financial aid, international relations, orientation, testing), residence life, student life, student government, athletics, registration, marketing, disability services, auxiliary services, student code of conduct, and non-instructional assessment.
Master’s degree in education, counseling or related field
5 years of relevant and progressive management experience
Significant experience creating an inclusive learning environment for first-generation students, low-income students and/or students of color
Terminal degree preferred
7 years of relevant and progressive management experience
Record of success in creating and implementing a vision for a student services division
Demonstrated commitment to all students’ success and in building strong student relationships
Significant experience managing staff and budgetary resources
Record of effective and innovative leadership in policy development, strategic planning, commitment and success in developing an inclusive environment for students of color and first-generation students
Demonstrated experience collaborating with instructional programs
Experience in providing response and assistance to students in crisis situations and restorative justice
Knowledge and use of student development theory and best practices and trends
Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
Educational philosophy in alignment with that of a rural, comprehensive Community College
