2023 TPE Planning Committee Overview Information
The TPE 2023 committee will be a full-year commitment that extends to late April 2023. This provides a level of execution of both a Fall and Spring TPE-related experience. This will be in addition to providing ongoing engagement and connection through various programmatic and educationally focused initiatives. This shift in committee structure and needs is a direct response to the ongoing and simultaneous feedback given to TPE through current assessment and advisory board recommendations. TPE is committed to enhancing the career readiness of incoming, current, and future undergraduate colleagues through providing experiences that scaffold the learning, growth, and development at all levels.
Below is the TPE Planning Committee 2023 Selection timeline.
- June 1: Application Opens
- June 8, 15, and 22: TPE 2023 Q&A from 12 pm-1 pm EST via Zoom (link to come)
- June 24: Application Closes at 11:59 pm
- June 27 to July 1: Application Review
- July 7 to July 11: Committee Selection Decisions
- July 22 or July 29: TPE Planning Committee Retreat (Format TBD)

TPE Planning Committee Composition
The TPE Planning Committee is composed of working practitioners and graduate student interns in student affairs and higher education. The planning committee is led by the chair, chair-elect, and TPE Director. Below are subcommittee opportunities.

- *The individuals in this role will work closely with NASPA’s GAP initiative.
Members of the committee serve a one-year term with the exception of the active chair and chair-select. Current members can serve another term by participating in the application process. Reappointment is not guaranteed. For the TPE 2023 Planning Committee, the term begins July 11th, 2022 to April 28, 2023.
Chair-Select Qualifications and Responsibilities
Chair-Select Qualifications
This year, there is a vacancy for the chair-select position. If interested in the role, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- At least 1 year of service on a previous TPE Planning Committee
- Commit 2 years of service to the TPE Planning Committee
- Serve as the Chair-Elect of the 2021-2022 TPE Planning Committee
- Serve as the Chair of the 2022-2023 TPE Planning Committee
- Current student affairs and higher education practitioner
- At least 5 years of full-time professional experience in student affairs or higher education and
- At least 2-3 years of full-time professional recruitment experience in a collegiate or other professional setting
- A member of NASPA and/or ACUHO-I via an active individual membership or employer’s institutional membership
Chair-Select Duties and Responsibilities
The TPE Chair-Select position is selected by the TPE Chair for the given TPE cycle. If selected to serve as the Chair-Select, they are expected to meet the following expectations:
- Serve as a member of the TPE Leadership Team with the Chair, the TPE Director, and the ACUHO-I Educational Program Manager and attend weekly check-in meetings
- Provide support to the Chair and the TPE Planning Committee and co-facilitate biweekly planning committee meetings with the Chair.
- Provide functional oversight of assigned subcommittees and meet with assigned subcommittees bi-weekly (off-week) to provide support, and resources and monitor ongoing progress.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of the summer TPE retreat to be held either in-person or virtually at a date to be later determined.
- Manage meeting minutes and notes during weekly/biweekly planning committee meetings
- Provide support to TPE programmatic/educational initiatives year-round (i.e. webinars, panels, blogs, etc.)
- Support the planning, execution, and assessment of the 2023 TPE events
- Fulfill duties and responsibilities of the TPE Planning Committee Chair for TPE 2024

Committee Member Qualifications
To be considered for membership on the committee, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Current student affairs and higher education practitioner
- At least 2-3 years of full-time professional experience in student affairs or higher education
- A member of NASPA and/or ACUHO-I via an active individual membership or employer’s institutional membership
Committee Member Expectations
If selected to serve on the planning committee, members are expected to meet the following expectations:
- Knowledgeable of The Placement Exchange, online resources, partner associations, and signature events
- Promote TPE resources, services, initiatives, and the flagship event
- Maintain open communication with the Chair, TPE Director, Chair-Elect, and other members of the TPE Planning Committee
- Attend the TPE 2023 Planning Committee retreat either in person or virtually at a date to be determined
- Participate in weekly/biweekly planning committee meetings
- Develop and implement programmatic/educational initiatives in alignment with TPE mission, vision, and goals
- Fulfill duties and responsibilities of your assigned subcommittee
- Support the planning, execution, and assessment of the 2022 TPE event (format and date TBD)
- Maintain documentation and records of work for the TPE knowledge base
